Updates for Hyper SLI? Please post here :)

Hi all

After reading a lot about Hyper SLI aka the SLI patch in the past, All I was able to find is this:
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/sh....php?p=2414995

Is that Aryan from 2cpu.com? Anyways I wonder if this project is still alive, if so could it's maker post the latest updates of this project in this thread, since this can come in handy for them 2CPU & 4CPU users that want to run SLI on their high end 2CPU or 4CPU motherboards
Also I found something about Hyper-SLI here:
http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.ph...270#post798270

I know we had a thread about this somewhere, but so far I could not find the correct topic, since this has to do with VGA cards, I made the topic post of it here.

Maybe a mother support list is an idea also?

Many thanks for reading

@Gold Leader,

The Hyper SLI stuff is on the 3rd page of the S/M H8DG6-F Thread:

http://forums.2cpu.com/showpost.php?...0&postcount=73

Oh, now I see you found it! LOL

I am slowly getting My rig ready to run, I think next weekend I'll have time to get it going - I'll be running it with 2 x 6136's initially cooled by a pair of Corsair H80's along with 3 x GTX260's (in Hyper SLI) and 32 Gb (8 x 4Gb) of Gskill DDR3-1600 RAM, a 500 Gig Velociraptor, and a trusty old PCP&C Turbo Cool 1200 PSU - Once I do a BIOS update (if necessary) I'll stick in the 6220's and see how well they work, perhaps I'll keep an eye out for a good deal on some 6328's in the future. Hyper SLI on a newer dualie with triple SLI on 3 monitors in surround should be awesome! Once I can afford some newer Graphics cards it should be incredible!

Well I am in an economical crisis so I gave my Dual 2435 two EVGA GTX 680 SuperClocked Signature Edition 2GB's, my Supermicro H8DAE-2 has native SLI support, so thanks to that, Hyper SLI isn't needed for my setup
But one day, my Supermicro H8DG6-F system will be completed, I won't give up on this even if it would take me another two years really I won't give up on it.
It's just that things aren't on my side atm, so therefore more time it will take then One thing for sure no i7's for me, only Dual Opterons and nothing else.

Here's my Dual Six-Core AMD OpteronDP 2435 D0 Istanbul with it's new EVGA GTX 680 SC SE 2GBs

Here my SLI Settings

Max FSAA modes:

And a neat arsWF x64 CUDA run, SLI Disabled of course

It's good that AMD will keep making Opterons for our high end Servers and Workstations, it would be terrible tos ee AMD stop the entire Opteron line also :X
Oh well if any of you have done new experiments with Hyper-SLI, feel free to post here !
I gotta admit them istanbuls aren't slow even for today's games and SMP apps, it's still a good performer, it performs on par with a Dual 8-Core AMD Opteron 6128 a 6134 so hey, not bad ya know

This think 3-Way SLI GTX 680's,780's or Titans would really be awesome in your build guruofhotrod

Hyper SLI doesn't seem to work with Quadro's - I have my KGPE-D16 rig here at work and can't get my Quadro FX5500's to run SLI
tried different drivers and different versions of the patch and so far no luck!

Ah, well, GL, Opterons may not be the processor of choice for workstations anymore, but I believe that they still are for blade servers and super computers. When you think of the number of processors in the last two, I doubt that AMD is hurting too badly.

Hmm might be an idea to help Aryan get this fixed Hmm sending him the Quadro's so he can bug test them to make it work is an idea of doing or hope he finds a pair of SLI-able Quadro's to get this working on his end which is the other idea, hmm I will get to him about this, personally I think it is fixable, as Dual Opterons go I will always be willing to keep this idea alive, it's just where my interests lay and hey them G34 setups aren't slow that is one thing for sure, they still hold the best price / performance ratio

Many thanks for passing that on about them Quadro's that is handy info !
As servers go the world's most powerful super computers are running on 16 Core Opterons, I think AMD is going okay in server/workstation land for my needs We gotta keep the faith guys! Intel is too over used for me, I prefer to keep my choices different from Intel users but hey I have nothing against them, each to their own ya know!

That would be great if aryan could help with a workaround to get SLI going on my Quadro's!! The obstacle appears to be a component of the Quadro driver (don't remember what it's called, I'm pretty sure it was abbreviated with 3 letters) - it's listed under options during the driver install when you do a "clean install" all my newer Quadro's are at work right now and I'm not - LOL so I don't have any on hand to experiment with this weekend - anyway this component in the driver package apparently checks to confirm that the motherboard is certified for SLI with Quadro's so to run SLI'd Quadro's on other systems this check will need to be modified to allow SLI to be activated.

Isn't a Quadro nothing else but a slightly modified GeForce? I had a look and your Quadro FX 5500 a GeForce 7900 GTX qith 1024MB 256Bit DDRII memory right?
Anyways it's what I get from this chart:
http://www.gpureview.com/Quadro-FX-5500-card-429.html

It shows the shroud & HSF which the 7800 & 7900 GTX have, but since it uses a G71 GPU, it's just a modified GeForce 7900 GTX in a Quadro package.
As SLI goes I dunno what certain amount of code is needed for Aryan to get this fixed, but I think in theory he can get it done, since SLI functions in a very similar way with the two types of VGA's.

Anyways he did get to me with this as reply:

"Zit nu niet achter een PC, maar zou ze eerst ont-quadro-en zodat ze als GeForce gezien worden met rivatuner oid. De q5500 zal wel een gf3 worden of zo ? En kijken op het hypersli forum
Heb hier maar 1 quadro liggen, dus kan/heb hier zelf npog niet mee geprutst"

Dutch for:

I just sat behind a PC that has a Quadro in it, I first want to un-Qudro it so it can be detected asa geForce with Riva Tuner. The q5500 should be a GeForce3 right? [I corrected him that it's a 7900 GTX 1GB DDR2 ]
He then said:
I will have a look on the Hyper SLI forum, although I do have one Quadro laying around here, it is not enough for me to get this fixed as I need a second Quadro, which is why I have not tinkered with it yet.

You're right, they are very similar (all 7900 GTX's I've seen come with 512MB of memory making them similar to Quadro FX4500's but, Quadro's have something (possibly in their firmware) that identifies them as a Quadro (I've heard of people flashing the Quadro BIOS on a 7900GTX making it function similar to a Quadro FX4500) the driver has a component that checks to confirm both the identity of the card and the platform the card is installed on - the platform has to be Quadro SLI certified for the option of SLI to show in the Nvidia control panel.

The patch will have to make the Nvidia driver "see" a Quadro SLI certified motherboard/platform incorporating more than likely an Nvidia chipset to allow for an SLI option in the Nvidia control panel. BTW the MSI Speedster and Speedster 2 motherboards will run Quadro's in SLI just fine - so, I suspect the situation here is related to the motherboard not the video card a little food for thought.

Sup,

Could you try to use rivatuner to de-Quadro-fy the cards to regular Geforces. Could be that you can use a registry key, I know rivatuner can do this with the older card ( and create a quadro out of a GF ) and then try again with the patched drivers. Preferably on a clean(-ish) windows install

Regards,
Aryan

Yea,
I could give that a try but, I need these to function as Quadro's for here at work so I can use drivers that compliment the CAD programs we are running.
I was thinking about the "ASUS SLI Certificate" you said HyperSLI injects and was wondering if a similar "Certificate" for a system that is Quadro SLI
Certified could be used instead?

the certificate is for the motherboard, not for the card. it enables SLI in the nv driver because it indicates the mobo is SLi capable.

more recent info
http://forums.2cpu.com/showpost.php?...&postcount=168

older with hypersli
http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.ph...270#post798270

and yes, I used the PCIe lanes numbers as mentioned in the SuperMicro manual

Exactly, and that is the problem with running Quadro's in SLI - the nv driver will not allow it unless the motherboard is certified for Quadro SLI so, if we can
show it to be a Quadro SLI certified workstation board then Quadro's should be able to run SLI on any system that meets the basic SLI requirements.

Awesome!, We might make some progress on this Quadro deal yet!! I read that the code showing the motherboard is a Quadro SLI certified workstation may be in the motherboard BIOS. Hopefully that will be of some help to create a workable solution
