Aeragon SMP 2016, Goldie's New Blue Assernal xD Quantum Speed GOOO!
Hey all
![]() Here something different from me for a change, as most know I mainly build Dual Opterons, but after I got a pm from jamese101, something I am extremely thankful for , even I wish I could do something back in regards... He wanted to gift me his ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS Mobo + 2x 4C/8T Intel Xeon E5-2637-v2 Ivy-Bridge EP Engineering Sample CPU's & 8x 2GB DDR3-2133 Kingston Hyper-X Genesis memory, as a gift for all I have done here just because I deserved it, well if there is anything Ican do in return please let me know bud ![]() So here the specs of the system as I plan to build it with the parts I have so far ![]() Aeragon SMP 2016 2x 4C/8T Intel Xeon E5-2637-v2 Ivy-Bridge-EP Engineering Samples @ 8C/16T @ 3.5Ghz Base Speed / 3.8Ghz Max Turbo all cores/threads. 2x Noctua NH-S12U LGA-2011vs coolers ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS Intel C602 Chipset Native 4-Way & Quad SLI/CFX Support 8x 2GB DDR3-2133 Kingston Hyper-X Genesis High Speed memory @ 2x Quad Channel DDR3-1600. 2x EVGA GTX 480 1.5GB in 2-Way SLI For Testing Purposes ** & 2x EVGA GTX 295 Red Edition 1.75GB in Quad SLI For Testing Purposes ** Onboard Realtek ALC 889 7.1 HD Sound Dual GigaBit Intel Lan Jacks 1x 1TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD SeaSonic Platinum X 1000 Watt PSU Phanteks Enthoo Primo White + Window Kit 3x 30cm Blue CCFL's 2x 30cm White CCFL's Plextor BluRay ReWriter 4x 2TB WD RE4 7200rpm HDD"s in RAID 1. It will also be used as test system to test varied VGA cards, on how they will perform in such an interesting system configuration, which is very new to me, due to that this is my first Dual Intel system since January 28, 2000, aka Gradinko SMP 2000 in my sig So this is like building a Dual Pentium 3 all over again just much newer and improved tech... I even wonder of the base of these CPU's still use the P3's base design, that would be cool right. I'll be watching this.
My Z9PE had PCIe/GPU stability problems, specifically with ES CPU's.

![]() Win 7 Pro UK + SP1 is always my OS of choice tho, just never liked Win10 Pro much even that it is the future, heck I dunno if Win 10 Pro will work with this mobo. I just wonder what the Molex connector is for top right. I see the 24pin ATX Mobo power connector and the two 8 pins CPU power connectors and a Molex Hmm.. so many things on this mobo rofl.. But I will make a good system of this , well I will try to

The molex is probably for additional power for PCIe slots if you are running lots of cards. My board has what looks like a standard ATX12v 4-pin for this purpose. Not sure if it's actually needed or not, assuming most power draw from modern GPUs is from 6 or 8 pin it's probably redundant. I would like to populate the connector at some point but it's pretty much impossible to find a PSU that has the two 8-pin and an extra 4-pin on top. A bit off-topic here, but would you know if it's possible to bypass SLI restriction on certain motherboards? My dual 2011 is apparently restricted to Quadro only for SLI support, which is obviously not desirable.

My issues were specifically with PCIe 3.0 link training at bootup. IIRC, 2.0 cards worked flawlessly.
Correct on the molecular being for additional current to feed high-power PCIe cards. Google "melted ATX 24-pin." The 24-pin connector only has 2 12V leads. That's good for 140-150W. One additional molecule adds 60W assuming perfect current balancing, so really you can expect 180-200W total to be safe. This is one place where the older true multi-rail supplies would fail due to one 12V rail being 0.1V higher and thus trying to take the full load. Newer single rail supplies will load balance almost perfectly by nature over those connections, allowing the 200W level to work fine. Even if you are only running one GPU, it's still good to use the Molex. More current supply lines and more ground returns will always have a positive effect on reducing voltage drop and improving power stability.

Well if flashing this moo with the latest Bios I am willing to test PCI-E Gen3 GP's in it the TITAN X Pascal is on my mind since I want to Render Raw AVi's to Mpeg4 with AC3 Sound support with CUDA 7, I am sure there is a program that supports CUDA 7, the TITAN X is more affordable than a Quadro P6000 and it's good for games as well
![]() This project will take me time to make it the way I want it to be, for now it will have to do, I hope to have the Case, PSU and CPU coolers and SSD to make it usable by this year's end otherwise it's January 2017 by the earliest. Even though this project has a lovely start all thanks to jamse101, really I wish I could thank him more, I really would

The two extra pins on the 6-pin will be removed so we don't put any extra current through the 4-pin.

They sell adapters. Buying a molex to 4-pin may be the easiest/cheapest way to get a PSU-side 4-pin for soldering.
Using all 6 to 4 won't force extra current. Using 4 or all 6 won't matter much either way. Use all 6, you might get 0.02% less voltage drop.

Hmm Sorry that my progress is always so slow, due to being 100% Disabled but I promise to make this build really worth while as I have done with my previous builds

At the moment my CLUBNET Network setup looks like this:
Without Flash: ![]() With Flash: ![]() From the Dark Side: ![]() And from the Light: ![]() And this is what is going to happen, as you'd be thinking how the hell will you add a 4th workstation between all that xD Simple my printer will go on a mini table under the desk and the middle system aka Firefox SMP 2006 will stand on that spot. Aeragon SMP 2016 will stand on the spot Firefox is on now, then I need an A-B Switch for my monitor speakers, mouse & keyboard, so I can switch between the two ![]() Making the final setup from left to right: Blue-Leader SMP 2009 Dual 6 Core AMD OpteronDP 2435 D0 12 Cores / 12 Threads @ 2.6Ghz 2x 6MB L3 Aeragon SMP 2016: Dual 4Core/8Thread Intel XeonDP E5-2647-v2 ES 8 Cores / 16 Threads @ 3.5Ghz Base / 3.8Ghz Turbo, 2x 15MB L3 Firefox SMP 2006: Dual 2Core AMD OpteronDP 285 E6 OST 4 Cores / 4 Threads @ 2.6Ghz, 2x 2MB L2 Valkyrie SMP 2014: Dual 12 Core AMD OpteronMP 6180 SE D1 24 Cores / 24 Threads @ 2.5Ghz 2x 12MB L3 Why? Anyways just a heads up this system will be made I do promise that but it will take longer than most of you people do your builds , due to my heavy medication I am shaking all over and I can't even build out a GPU so as that goes it may take me 1 or 2 years even though I will make this a lovely build as I did all the others.
Just not now, got the Christmas days upcoming as well and just need to save money for other things ![]() I just wanted to pass this on so you don't have to wonder why it takes this long ![]() Anyways thanks for posting in here though, I will keep this updated once a new part is added though

It seems I have to cancel this project mainly due to funding issues and a passed away GPU, I am going to sell the parts, due to my situation from last nights crappy adventure my R9 290X died, horizontal lines on the right side of the scree, I need to save up for a Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB Nitro something I can afford, good enough for Primal Carnage Extinction & Fallout 4 @ 1920 x 1200, that is all I play.
Anyways just you all know of my situation.
